Discussion : Emily Buza : Part 1

Hello team! Welcome to Discussions, our bonus episodes where we bring a special guest into the cave and talk about topics that relate to Young Justice as an entire series. Because of that, there are spoilers for both seasons everywhere. Consider yourself warned.

This week, Rich welcomes friend of the show Emily Buza. You might have seen her blow Rich's mind on Twitter as @emilyofarden. Emily is just a wonderful person. But she's also a super-fan, and a writer, and an actor. How she had time to chat with Rich, we don't know. But she had so much to say that we had to split their conversion into two parts!

Stay tuned for an amazing discussion about shipping, fan fiction, and the deep relationships expired in Young Justice.

If you'd like even more proof of Emily's pure awesome, read this.

Special thanks to Neal for his awesome editing work on this episode.

Hello team! Welcome to episode 19 and our discussion of Coldhearted!

This Wally-centric episode, has some great moments but it's not the best episode overall. But Wally does start growing up here, which is long overdue. Listen for our discussion of all the monologuing that happens and a little bit about the Doctor Watson audience point of view writing device.

There are still some moments of popping in Rich's audio. We apologize, but they could not be edited out. Never fear, we are quickly catching up to the point where Rich has obtained a pop filter and things get much better.

Hello team! Welcome to Discussions, our bonus episodes where we bring a special guest into the cave and talk about topics that relate to Young Justice as an entire series. Because of that, there are spoilers for both seasons everywhere. Consider yourself warned.

This week, we are proud to welcome Pranks Paul, someone who just might be a real super hero and is definitely the host of Never Tell Me the Pods, a fantastic Star Wars podcast. Pranks is simply a wonderful human being and a pillar of the podcast community. He was also one of Rich's primary inspirations for starting Whelmed, so blame him for all these shenanigans.

Rich and Pranks sit down to talk about the Bat-Family, DC Comics as subject material for a class, and the CCA. Don't be surprised if they bring up Star Wars at some point.

If you haven't listened to Never Tell Me the Pods, we highly recommend it. Here are the links to episodes One, Two, and Three. Enjoy!

Special thanks to Neal for editing this episode!

Stay tuned for Friday's review episode. It's speeding its way here faster than you'd think.

Hello team. Welcome to episode 17. This is a bit of a silly, tangential episode, but it has some good moments. Rich talks a lot about the House of Secrets and Vertigo. Caleb's enjoyment of Zatanna and all versions of Superboy is matched only by his dislike of Gotham.

Episode 15 : Failsafe

Hello team. Welcome to our discussion of Failsafe.

This is an intense, heavy episode with consequences that impact the team deeply and permanently. The results of this episode echo through season two and possibly further. We do our best to keep this episode focused on the positive, but it's tough. If you've watched the episode, you know what we're talking about. If you haven't, hold on tight.

In this episode, keep an ear open for the number 16, a surprise appearance by Caleb's feelings, two mini secret origins, and a discussion of unrelenting heroism. Caleb also points out a detail that Rich has missed after all these years.

As a point of clarification, we mention in the episode that we are planning to feature Nicole Dubuc, the writer of this and several other episodes. This was recorded before Season Three was announced and since then, much of the Young Justice creative staff has entered into contracts with the powers that be. We will make every effort to talk to these fantastic people as soon as we are legally allowed to.

Fan Service this week focuses on the Earth 27 Project which can be found here, here, and here. Do yourself a favor and recover from Failsafe by checking out this amazing art project immediately.

And while the worst is over, next week we dig into consequences with Disordered. Prepare yourself and stay whelmed.

Mission Briefing - 2:24
Feeling the Aster - 7:30
Canary Debrief - 29:26

Lastly, we have launched our Patreon campaign! Any support is greatly appreciated and will go completely towards improving everything that is part of Whelmed. But don't worry, the podcast will continue to be disturbed freely.

Discussions : Quinn Wilson : Linguistics Part 2

Hello team! Welcome to Discussions, our bonus episodes where we bring a special guest into the cave and talk about topics that relate to Young Justice as an entire series. Because of that, there are spoilers for both seasons everywhere. Consider yourself warned.

This is part two of the conversation started last week between Rich and Quinn.

Episode 12 : Alpha Male

Hello team! Welcome to episode 12!

This week, we discuss Alpha Male, a very fun episode. Make sure to listen for Sleepy Rich and French Rich. Darcy Ross shows up again and Caleb gushes about his love for Wolf. We also dig deep into our roots of tabletop game advice during our Canary Debrief. Speaking of which...

The show segments are as follows:
Hello Megan - 1:32
Mission Briefing - 2:21
Feel the Aster - 6:58
Canary Debrief - 17:22
Crashing the Mode - 27:01 to 32:26

Our Fan Service this week is another fantastic AMV by gtgrandom. This time, it's set to Black Parade by My Chemical Romance. Watch it here, and please remember that AMVs do contain spoilers.

Lastly, there are two quick corrections to note from this episode. At the time of recording, we had not yet heard about Season Three, thus our speculation about it. This episode was also recorded before we started conversing with gtgrandom herself (sorry about that incorrect pronoun use in the show) and will be featuring Erica very soon in our Discussion series.

Stay tuned next week for the conclusion of Quinn's Discussion!
